The cost of a funeral is... a lot.
While making Brian’s funeral arrangements, finding his forever plot, and picking out his headstone, I realized just how much end-of-life expenses are. We didn’t realize that he had life insurance through his employer, and we expected to pay out of pocket for his funeral. Luckily, a GoFundMe was started prior to making his final arrangements. This gave us a little bit of wiggle room to choose the service and headstone that best fit him.
But not everyone is so lucky. How many 21-year-old kids have life insurance, car insurance or even health insurance? I know when I was that age, it was not something I thought about. And if he didn’t have life insurance, or a world of people that loved him and donated, he may not have had the end-of-life service that he deserved.
The average end of life services is nearly 15 grand. And it must be paid in full before they will perform a funeral service.
We want to help!
We were able to give Brian the end-of-life services that he deserved because of donations. And for that, we are eternally grateful.
We had just a little bit left over from his donations and thought it would be such an honor to be able to help other families that find themselves planning a funeral for their own child. By starting a 501c3 foundation, we hope to be able to make a difference in other families lives. Whether it be supporting them through the hardest time of their lives, or a monetary donation to help them give their loved ones the service they deserve.
